For Remembrance

Yellow Rosebud

They traveled far together
For over 50 years.
Two hearts that never parted
Through many smiles and tears.

They managed through the wartime,
One of their few times apart.
They brought the skill of marriage
To something of an art.

When one would have to travel,
The other came along.
Wherever one was welcome,
The other would belong.

One was bright as sunshine,
One the reflecting moon.
One would lead the dance,
And one would hum the tune.

One would start a story,
One would tell its close.
One would grab a camera,
One would strike a pose.

Important cares of one
Were then the cares of two.
What one was contemplating
The other always knew.

But slowly something happened,
A thief who quiet came.
Then one became more watchful.
And one forgot the name.

A shadow fell upon them
And slowly built a wall.
One grieved in deepest sadness,
And one could not recall.

How much they loved each other
Since many years they met.
Now one cannot remember
And one cannot forget.

Yellow Rose

Remember to Remember.
It's such a precious gift.
