HYMN SING
A song of beginnings
I'm on my way, I will go
The gift of a morning
I'm on my way
To make my own way
I will go.
My eyes stay high on the sun's ray
Following the wing's way
I will go.
Words by Dorothy Acton
wondrous emergence from its chrysalis.
I found a great deal of help by honing
my sense of humor. I used to collect
one-liners and bumperstickers. These
were among the first things I ever put
on my website at WWW.DACTON.COM.
They're down under "Acton's Attic."
I began to lose my vision to a corneal
disease. Then I found my salvation in
writing, especially in collaboration with
musicians I had met on the Internet. The
song "Hymnsing" was one of these efforts.
I did the words to "Hymnsing" as part of a
project called "Songs for the Butterfly,"
which is also at the WWW.DACTON.COM site.
This creative writing was therapeutic for me and
(I've been told) has been inspirational for others.

That was painted on the wall,
My colors growing paler
'Til I wasn't there at all.
To behold a wondrous sight
Of butterflies and angels
And a sunrise chasing night.
Full of flowers and birds in song.
There's work yet to accomplish
'Til time tells me, "Run along."
